I got an awesome promotion.I HONESTLY thought that the owner never considered me as trainer/management -type material. No joke. When he was hitting me with blonde jokes,I was being chastised for my work performance.I don't work a killer-paying job,but I got relocated to a town close by and my pay doubled/plus bonuses, and I am overwhelmed with fear.Fear of being put on the spot, and failing miserably.Ya see,one of my biggest job duties is to train, and there is soooo much to learn in this position I have to train....well...I have every bit of confidence in what MY job entails'.But what if.....I don't know.I have this bad habit of,when the boss/owner is hanging over my shoulder it makes me nervous, and I WILL screw up!I can get through most of the day w/ no mistakes, but let the boss hover me a few minutes and I'm guaranteed a screw-up.Is that wierd or what?I'm freaking out over the money thing. As a woman,I only made close to that type of money when I was a hairdresser, which probably will never happen again. Many reasons.Shattered left arm that can't hold out doing a perm, color and some haircuts.Plus my license needed to be renewed, but thanks to my stupid mistakes, landing me in the judicial system, when it came time for license renewal,TDCJ wouldn't agree to sending in my necessary forms/physical.Daddy was gona send the renewal fee,but the rest was up to the prison system, and I was denied everytime I dropped a form.Wouldn't you think that the system would encourage employment after your release?
Well, nevertheless.SO FAR.....from what I can see.No background check is required for this, and that's a shocker.Even if it is....another guy where I work, who was also chosen to go to the new location just got out of prison about a year ago,and talks to our boss all the time about his stay in the clink. As for me?? I just keep my mouth closed. The subject is too taboo.
What TOTALLY shocked me,was out of the 5 that was picked, the boss under him writing the list, was told that the owner mentioned me first, saying that I was at the TOP of this list, and do whatever it takes to convince me to come. The short time I worked w/ the owner,he never came across as flirty...actually he;s VERY MARRIED,and basically commended me on my job productivity, back when I worked w/ him.Complimented my interaction w/ customers, and everyone said back then "WHOA! To get a compliment from HIM was a miracle."
I just did my job. That's all(actually to make time go faster)ha ha.NOW what if I can't do this?? Fear has settled in like rigor mortis!UuGH!

I reckon you'll do it no problem at all. We all have those fears with a new position...it's natural...we start wondering if we're capable of holding up to the bosses expectations...the fear sets in, our knees shake, we second guess ourselves all the time, blah blah blah.
I doubt you would've been offered the job if they didn't think you were capable. perhaps that's why he's been watching over your shoulder so often? Seeing the potential in you and wanting to help you do better etc. (Personally, like you, I hate it when they watch so closely...it makes us a bit jumpy and yeah, we fuck up.)
You my dear, have got this fantastic promotion, because they know you can do it. Have some faith in yourself. and hey, if it doesn't work out, least you'll have enjoyed the extra money for a few months eh? LOL
j/k...bet you'll be great...just need to get over those initial jitters.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Genocyde Says:
CONGRATS! You'll do fine.
Look at it this way, if you weren't this fraggin good then why wouldn't you get picked.
Pat yourself on the back with the rest of us and keep in mind you'll do pretty damned good if Genocyde does say so himself.
lISA* and D.J*
Thanks for the pep talk.Really.Thinking back when I worked w/ the owner that handpicked me for this position...I remember him knit-pickin' me alot, but yet it was probably just his way of making me be the best that I can be,so that I can train the newbies.Maybe he knew back then that I was training/management-type material.Ya see,he's the owner of the businesses...and told the top management that "I" will be at the top of the promotion list and moved to the new place that is opening.I WAS SHOCKED WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT.Maybe b/c the only really laugh I got out of the owner was when he had yet another blonde joke!I'd have to laugh when it wasn't even funny.lol
Anyways...thanks for the encouragement.
D.J. Geno-educated* ha ha---I laughed outloud on that one.You must have been a straight "A" student in English/grammar.
Thanks D.J.-your a doll.I hope I can be able to keep up w/out showing the REAL side of me....Kiddin'
Gotta go run over to your blog and catch up on the latest.I've been out of commission for a bit.
Thanks again for having more faith in me than I think I have.LOL
(((hugs)))
The Shocking Truth About DJ Genocyde:
Flunked out while attending a University just 45 minutes from him....never partied as the frat clowns weren't his type of people
Flunked one of his advanced English courses due to the professor instructing the class to diagram sentences from Jabberwocky.
Dropped out when told by a Mass Communications Professor that he would have to write on a 4th grade reading level because that's the level that about 70 - 85% of the population reads on.
Could most commonly be spotted hanging out with the "wierdos" in the theatre troop
Spent most of his spare time constructing sets.
Later walked away from it all to pursue a Graphic Design degree from a local tech school
Dropped out due to bills two years later.
Still Overdoses on Alternative Media in favor of Self-Education.
Has called himself a philosopher due to knowing everything...about nothing at all
