FRED
Freddrick Brito considers plans to
campaign for Public Office in 2007
Rob Schumaker
Internet Radio America
After weeks of speculation, Freddrick Brito, an Ex-Offender in Los Angeles and a self-proclaimed " Advocate for the People" has hinted in a live national broadcast that he may 'seek public office somewhere in California.'
For months now since I have be following him and since his voluntary unmasking by the Los Angeles Times on August 17, 2005, Brito has become critical of the need for a real voice that represents all of mainstream California. Specifically those that are disenfranchised by being 'homeless, single mothers, ex-offenders and the forgotten senior citizens who are left to fend for themselves by their own children and by a 'blindfolded' society who eagerly looks the other way.'
In a national prime time segment on DATELINE NBC that will air soon, Brito plans to talk about his story and his struggle to live in a Judgmental nation. He also will address a number of issues that he considers "societys failure to face truth about the real problems in America to include the failure of President George Bush..."
He says, "We, as a people keep looking the other way as if the problems that face average American's doesn't exist. People complain about the rise of crime in this country, yet they continue to discriminate against people who have made mistakes in their lives like myself and prevent us from having a 'second chance' by refusing to give us jobs or affordable housing based on our record. This should be illegal. What happens after the door of opportunity is slammed in our faces over and over? People lose hope and have no other choice but to return to familiar paths in order to survive. They commit crimes in order to survive in a nation that enjoys judging others instead of helping them out. I say enough is enough... this has to stop and I am not going to sit on the sidelines anymore and watch it continue to happen."
He is also the Founder of the newly formed National Ex-Offenders Legislative Lobby based in Los Angeles that works to enact legislation geared at prohibiting discrimination of any kind by employers and land owners against ex-offenders who seek employment and housing.
Brito has been seen lately attending a number of political events and appears to be strategizing with well known political hacks as he considers his chances of public office.
The Fred Brito Saga is long from over, based on what appears to be an unabashed talent by Brito to articulate a strong message that hits hard at the hearts of those that have been neglected by public officials and the general public despite political promised to the contrary. It is obviously clear that he speaks from experience and has a serious command of facts and speaks in a compelling energetic way that inspires hope in many of those that listen to him. Obviously, something this nation has lost for quite some time under President Bush.
Whatever Brito does in the next few years, it is sure to be unchartered ground and quite possibly a first in many ways. If elected, he would be the first in California to ever hold public office after serving time in prison.
Thank Cernunnos you called 911.
I wouldn't have given him that chance though. I do believe I'd have given him one chance to make that bullet reach me before I reached him.
I just wish it had been me he had pulled that gun on.
I think I'll leave it at that.
Good thing you got out of there though. Glad to have one of my biggest fans around >:D<
