Tan..Burn...Tan....Burn....

Here I go again ......The tanning beds in town aren't giving me fast enough results...so here I am again propping up the home tanning lamp.Yes...I've already burnt the xxxx out of myself(see pic),not to mention the hospital visit when I got off work and fell asleep under the lamp,burning LAYERS of skin off,swelling so badly I had to crawl to the restroom.OKAY......as drastic as that sounds,it WASN'T the lamps fault.It was mine.They CAN be verrry effective if used right.The thing is......I just need to get my timing down pat.Believe it or not....while the light is on you,it feels as though nothing,absolutely nothing is happening,THEN,after u turn it off.....an hour goes by and u feel an itch....2 hours u turn pinkish,3-4 hours later.....a little burning sensation.....6-8 hours later,and holy cow!!!Your ass is on FIRE and looking for cold rags,vinegar,that stuff called "Ice" for burns....or even prescription Silvadene.THEN comes the fever,chills,sleepless nights,can't wear tight clothes in the "FRIED" area,and wondering "How in the hell did I let it get this far"? lol YIKES!!!!!! OUCH!!
Okay...today,I used a timer.Tonight I suppose we'll see if I'm burnt to a crisp,or just a little pinkish.I have to turn pinkish a few times to really start tanning.
I DO NOT tan my face,Big no-no.That's LEATHER-CITY in a few years.I have an aunt that STAYED in the sun all her life....she's had several cancers removed,plus her face is blotchy and looks so weather worn...I mean really tore down due to the effects of the sun.
So....you say...."Why do this to your body,knowing the end results"?
I don't know really.....even though it sounds horrific,I still think a tan is pretty.No matter what size a person is.....a tan ghives a person such a pretty glow.
Now don't get me wrong....look at Nicole Kiddman.She has more freckles than most ppl know b/c of the make-up artists' doing such a great job of hiding them.But she's fair complected and beautiful.Alot of ppl wear fair skin well.I just like a good tan.....more especially on my legs,so I can wear cute shorts and cute skirts and stuff.
I envy the ppl w/ the natural tan's....but me??? I have to work at it.So it may take a burn or 2....but I'll get there.Pretty soon,look out lake! Here I come! :-}
