Finally! Ihaven't been able to get through to post,or really do anything but go to the homepage or my favorite links. Then I couldn't leave any comments...something about a server issue???Strange.
Anyways....My blogger buddy from the U.K. says that respect w/ ppl there is pretty much few and far between. That children don't really address their elders w/ a "Yes Ma'am,No Ma'am-Yes Sir,No Sir"....and I don't know why,but I just find that so odd.As a child growing up here in the U.S.(or at least Texas, that is)....we got abused(lol) if we didn't say that to our elders....meaning any adult.Even all of our friends,neighbor's,...whoever...it didn't matter.I just thought that was an unwritten rule everywhere.Nationwide.Even my daughters' friends 9 times out of 10 used the "Yes Ma'am...and if they didn't,my daughters usually corrected them.lol
It's kind of funny timing that I watched mpart of a show today on the E-Entertainment Channel, and it was called "50 Steamiest Southern Stars",and one of the commentaters(sp) said something about only women from the south are taught to ALWAYS smile, and giggle your way through any situation, and by all means-->NEVER be rude,no matter what, and that we were taught that as a child.
I just kinda laughed to myself,b/c I had just posted about that very subject.I don't know why it's just weighed so heavily on my mind, and then I hear on TV that it's a Southern issue.Well....then it started me thinking...even when I lived a short time in York,Maine (which happens to be at the TOP of the United States and Texas being at the very bottom)....but YEssss I DID notice the difference in ppl's attitudes up north as opposed to down here in the South.Of course not EVERYONE is nice around here....shoot,the crime rate alone proves that! But I guess I was just brought up in a different world, where,if you wanna keep your head on your shoulders, you keep your manners in check at all times.
Then again,my daughters have this eyeball rolling thing when they have to do something that they don't want to.....ARE YOU KIDDING? If I rolled my eyes at my Mom or G'ma....your ass was grass! lol...So,yea,I even notice the suddle changes in even my own children.
My,how the times have changed.
